The "Municipal Road Extension Project" connecting the three major parks, including the first section from Industrial Park Road to Anhe Road, has been successfully completed and is entering the acceptance phase. The streetlights along the road have been fully lit, symbolizing that the countdown to the opening of the road has begun. It is expected that after the acceptance in May, the road will be open to traffic, which is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on Industrial Park Road to Taiwan Boulevard and Chaoma Road.
The Taichung Municipal Road Extension Project is a traffic artery connecting Taichung City to Taichung Industrial Park, Precision Machinery Technology Innovation Park, and Central Science Park, with a total length of about 1,950 meters and a width of 60 meters, divided into two sections, with a total cost of approximately NT$7.395 billion (including NT$3.965 billion for construction and NT$3.43 billion for land).
The construction bureau director, Chen Datian, said that the first section (from Industrial Park Road to Anhe Road) is about 750 meters long, with a total cost of about NT$2.389 billion. It started in 2022 and took two and a half years to complete, entering the acceptance phase. The streetlights along the road have been fully lit and completed, and the opening of the road is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on Industrial Park Road to Taiwan Boulevard and Chaoma Road, and connect Anhe Road and Nantun Interchange, improving the overall regional traffic efficiency.
Chen Datian pointed out that this section will also serve as an important alternative road during the construction of the Blue Line main line (Taiwan Boulevard section) in the future, not only reducing the impact of construction on traffic but also strengthening the resilience and convenience of the overall traffic network in Taichung City.
The construction bureau stated that the second section (from Anhe Road to the third section of Huancheng Road) is actively under construction. Due to the need to cross the Raizi Creek and pass through important transportation facilities such as the high-speed rail and National Highway No. 1, the engineering difficulty is high. Currently, about 20% of the construction has been completed and it is expected to be completed by the end of next year. Thanks to the support of local residents and the assistance of the central government and the parliament, the city government team will continue to promote major construction projects with the highest efficiency to provide citizens with a safer and more convenient traffic environment.
